The Auxiliary to J. Wilbur Adams VFW Post 3404 in Springfield, Missouri, is a dedicated group of volunteers united by a shared purpose: honoring our veterans, supporting military families, promoting patriotism, and making a positive difference in our community.
Rooted in the longstanding traditions of the VFW Auxiliary, we work alongside Post 3404 to carry forward a legacy of service, fellowship, and commitment to those who have sacrificed for our freedoms. We believe in a lasting love of country, loyalty to our nation's ideals, respect for our flag, and a commitment to preserving liberty for future generations.
Our Mission in Action
As stated in the National Auxiliary Bylaws and Rituals, the objects of the VFW Auxiliary are:
“The objects of this organization shall be fraternal, patriotic, historical, charitable and educational; to assist the Posts and members thereof of the Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States, and its own members whenever possible; to maintain true allegiance to the Government of the United States of America and fidelity to its Constitution and Laws; to foster true patriotism, to maintain and extend the institutions of American freedom and equal rights and justice to all men and women; to preserve and defend the United States of America from all her enemies.”
Through our programs, the Auxiliary to J. Wilbur Adams VFW Post 3404 puts this mission into action by serving others, promoting patriotism, and strengthening our community. Each program offers meaningful opportunities to make a difference in the lives of veterans, military families, and future generations.
Veterans & Family Support
Provides support, resources, and assistance to veterans, active-duty service members, and their families. Through outreach and community partnerships, this program helps connect military families with services that address their needs.
Americanism
Promotes patriotism, respect for the American flag, and appreciation for our nation's history and freedoms. Through education and community involvement, members help preserve the values and traditions that unite us as Americans.
“Buddy”® Poppy
Raises awareness of the sacrifices made by veterans through the distribution of the memorial Buddy Poppy. Donations collected help support veterans, service members, and their families in need.
VFW National Home
Supports the VFW National Home in its mission to provide a caring community and assistance to veterans' and military families. The National Home helps eligible families build stability and work toward a brighter future.
Legislative
Encourages members to stay informed and advocate for legislation that protects veterans' benefits, strengthens military readiness, and supports service members and their families. Members help ensure the voices of those who served are heard.
Hospital
Encourages volunteer service and compassionate support for veterans in VA and non-VA medical facilities, veterans' homes, clinics, and nursing homes. Members and community volunteers help bring comfort, encouragement, and appreciation to those receiving care.
Historian & Media Relations
Preserves the history and traditions of the Auxiliary while sharing its activities, accomplishments, and community impact. By documenting our service and communicating our story, we help future generations understand the value of volunteerism and patriotism.
Scholarships
Encourages education, patriotism, and personal achievement by supporting scholarship opportunities for eligible students. These programs help young people pursue their educational goals while recognizing their potential and commitment to their communities.
Youth Activities
Promotes patriotism, civic responsibility, and community service among young people. By working with schools, youth organizations, and community groups, members encourage the next generation to honor veterans, support military families, and become active, caring citizens.
Membership
Strengthens the Auxiliary by welcoming eligible individuals who share a commitment to veterans, military families, and community service. Membership supports our mission, builds lasting friendships, and creates opportunities for people to make a meaningful difference together.
These programs guide our service throughout the year. Through volunteering, community partnerships, and collaboration with VFW Post 3404, our members turn our mission into meaningful action—one project, one family, and one act of service at a time.

Membership is open to eligible men and women age 16 and older who meet the VFW Auxiliary's eligibility requirements through qualifying family relationships to veterans of foreign wars. You do not need to be a veteran yourself to make a meaningful contribution.
